Word Processing and Office Computers
The library provides office software access at 32 public workstations on the Second Floor of the library. They are the same computers that provide Internet access.
Sun StarOffice 8.0 is available at all public Internet workstations. StarOffice is a free productivity application suite from Sun Microsystems that includes a word processor (Writer), spreadsheet (Calc), presentation maker (Impress), database (Base), illustrator (Draw), and mathematical functional creator (Math). The applications include built-in support for the Adobe PDF document format.
StarOffice is compatible with Microsoft Office components (for example, you can open and save in Microsoft's Word, Excel, and PowerPoint file formats). Star Office is also released for free as an open source product under the name OpenOffice.org.
Microsoft Office Professional 2003 is available at all public Internet workstations. Office Professional includes a word processor (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), presentation maker (PowerPoint), database (Access), and basic publisher (Publisher).
